A New Perspective

Dave Doran is a published author, world traveller and distinguished international business executive. Reflective and objective about his career and background in finance and business, he is recreating that world for others to experience.  His stories will transport you to the exciting milieus in which he made his living and the warped, unlikely and sometimes normal characters that inhabit those places where wealth and power influence everything.

Dave’s ideal life might have been that of a writer, or perhaps an academic. Instead, Dave, who has an Ivy League background, was drawn into the world of business.  He has worked at a senior level for a number of companies in both the US and Europe.  They include the headquarters of a Fortune 50 company based in New York and roles in  a number of high tech start-ups, as well as being involved in the world of venture capital.  Success in business has enabled the time and resources to invest in writing.  He believes there is a paucity of good high concept crime thrillers in international settings that deal with money, business and investment banking themes.  He is focusing his literary efforts in those areas.

The Brexit Conspiracies

The Author’s first Book, The Brexit Conspiracies, is in the political arena, not his preferred area of focus, which is business. Nonetheless, it is a tour de force. The story is a satirical take on Britain, Europe and other world powers, post referendum. The story journeys interestingly towards an unexpected outcome, built around an unlikely cast of characters from around the globe, all with twisted motivations. Britain wrestles with each of them to try to secure its goals. It is fiction, with meat in it. A real treat!

London Perspective

The author's treatment of Brexit may be fictional and extreme, but it provides ready ammunition for the many sceptics of the process. The exaggerated and surreal adventures of the characters may well be mimicked in reality. I recommend this writer and his book to anyone who casts a wary eye on the political process, but in particular to anyone who enjoys a rollicking roller-coaster read.

Could it happen?

Dave Doran seems to have a unique voice. It makes his alternative and fictional treatment from Brexit vote to finishing line a startling journey. He does have an end point to his story before the two year rundown lapses. I will not spoil it for other readers. His treatment, his style his characters and the story he has conjured up have given us a voice that we will watch for in the future. Buying self published books on-line is always hit or miss. This was a big surprise - a delightful one.

Bystanders are not safe

The Brexit Conspiracies hypothesises the outcome of the Section 50 letter which issued this week. Ireland is likely to be roadkill on the journey towards the independence that our near neighbour yearns for. Maybe they will understand us better now. One of the positives, if there are any, is this book, which apparently was prompted by the vote last June. No amount of special treament is likely to stop the car wreck which the heros and villains in Doran's book so readily avoid. Enjoy it! It may be the onle positive from the whole Brexit debacle.
